About

I am an ecologist interested in quantifying the contribution of the behaviour of individual organisms to the dynamics of ecological processes, theoretically and for applied purposes. I have mainly focussed on animal movement and mating behaviour, but recently became interested also in species occupancy/distribution and community composition patterns. For my research I use statistical modelling of observational and experimental field data, as well as simulation modelling approaches.

Before doing science I worked for over 10 years as a professional musician (french horn player; mainly classical music). I was raised in Germany and Italy; more recently I lived in the UK and now Canada.
